My friend and fellow blogger, Jelena, recently wrote about the ydlp concept. You see, the ydlp concept is a way of thinking about what we do in life that is more aligned with the way we naturally want to live. While we may not have the ydlp in our nature, we do have a ydlp in our lives, and it is what we put into action that determines how we are.
This concept is actually pretty simple. If you want to be a good person and a good citizen, you have to do something nice to someone. If you want to be a good cook, you have to buy nice food. If you want to be a good person, you have to do something nice.
I think there’s something to be said for doing something more useful that just being nice all the time. By not being nice all of the time, we start to get complacent and complacent becomes complacency. But with a “nice” person, you’re not just doing something nice, you’re doing something useful. Being a good person and a good citizen is about doing something real, not just being nice.
You have to set goals for yourself. For instance, if you’re thinking about getting into the habit of doing something nice, you’re not just being nice or doing something useful. You’re setting a goal for yourself. That goal is what drives you. That goal might not be a big deal or that you’re going to do it in a million years, but it is a goal. And in order for that goal to come true, you have to be willing to put in the work.
And in order to do that, you have to have a vision. And in order to put in the work, you have to have goals. And in order to put in the work, you have to have a vision. So, if youre thinking about putting into action the goal of making a list or making a to-do list, you need to want to set goals for yourself. That is the goal.
The thing you have to do is the things you need to have goal-setting. You don’t need to have goals. You need to focus on what you are doing and what you are doing isn’t going to change your life or your future.
If you dont set goals, youre just trying to put something in motion that doesnt mean anything. If you have goals, they are the path that is on your path. They are the things you are going to focus on. So if you dont put goals in motion, you are just trying to create problems for yourself. As a matter of fact, you can put goals in motion, but you have to take action on them.
A goal is something that you are going to accomplish. Goals can be small – like an exercise goal or a goal about money. Or you can be something big and hard like a goal of buying your first car. Or a goal of starting a business. Or a goal of being a millionaire. Or an entire goal of living a healthy life.
Goals can be goals in motion, but having a specific goal is better. If a goal is too specific then you won’t accomplish it. If a goal is too vague then you won’t have a clear picture of where you are. But a goal that you know will be something you can accomplish is better. So goals should be specific. Goals should be something that you are going to do. Goals that you know you will accomplish should be something you are going to do.
The first goal in a goal is to do something. If you say “I am doing something,” then you need to know what that goal is. If you say “I am doing something that I want to do,” then you can do something for money. If you say “I am doing something that I am going to do,” then you are going to do something for money more than you could do for money.
